Kendall College’s chapter of Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International invite chocolate lovers to go behind the whisk and “know the pro” on Monday, May 16, as they host celebrated celebrity chef Alain Roby for a chocolate experience like you’ve never tasted before.

“A Grand Chocolate Experience” will take place from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Woodmode Auditorium & Brookhaven Wine Room located on Kendall College’s fifth floor. Tickets are $18 and may be purchased online. To receive a discounted rate of $10, enter the code “conciergepreferred”.

Included in the evening’s event are a chocolate tasting, Intelligentsia coffee tasting and a pastry trend presentation by Chef Roby. Culinary students will display their chocolate sculptures and an accompanying dessert for guests to sample and vote for their favorite. Students will be judged by Alain Roby, Bleeding Heart Bakery’s Michelle Garcia among others with the winner being announced at the end the event.

Roby’s work has been seen all over the world, as The Guinness Book of World Records awarded him the World’s Tallest Cooked Sugar Building and World’s Tallest Chocolate Sculpture. His award-winning cooked sugar building was 12 feet 10 inches tall and chocolate sculpture was 20 feet 8 inches tall. These  creations took his world visibility to new heights. Chef Roby is the only pastry chef to hold two Guinness World Records.

Roby worked for the Hyatt Regency Chicago for 24 years, most recently as the Senior Corporate Pastry Chef for Hyatt Hotels over-seeing the Pastry Division for all Hyatt Hotels and Resorts. Today, in addition to his role as a consultant within the food, dessert and hospitality industry, he is the creative genius behind Chef Alain Roby’s All-Chocolate Kitchen located in downtown Geneva, Ill.
