Opening of Harry Caray’s Tavern on Navy Pier is a Home Run!

Posted on April 16th, 2010 by

Harry Caray’s celebrated the opening of their newest location earlier this week in grand fashion. The VIP-only, red carpet event at their new Navy Pier location was quite the scene. All of Chicago’s major sports teams and media were represented, including, as you might guess, plenty of Cubs. Current Cubs Aramis Ramirez and Geovany Soto attended as well as “Mr. Cub” Earnie Banks and General Manager Jim Hendry. Also in attendance was former White Sox player Ron Kittle, Blackhawk Bobby Hull, and former Bears players Richard Dent and Kevin Butler.

Harry Caray’s Managing Partner Grant Deporter and his team have done a wonderful job with the new space. They’ve successfully captured the energy and atmosphere that make their other locations thrive. The food and drinks are fantastic – exactly what you would expect given their previous successes. The menu features great burger choices, including the “Ricketts’ High Plains Bison Burger,” as a tip of the hat to the new Cubs owners. Check out the full menu!

What makes the new Harry Caray’s Navy Pier location unique is not only the impressive sports museum display featuring famous Chicago sports memorabilia, but they’ve set up a beer garden on the pier so that when you aren’t cheering on the Cubbies to another win on one of the many televisions, you have an unmatched view overlooking Lake Michigan and downtown Chicago.

Harry Carary's VIP PartyFormer Harry Caray’s waiter and current Desperate Housewives star James Denton attended the event and enjoyed the company of Eric and Kathy from 101.9fm, the Mix.

In case the view from the beer garden, the expansive museum, and the atmosphere doesn’t impress you enough, there’s a good chance that you’ll see a celebrity or two during your time as there are a number of celebrity owners that have invested in the new Harry Caray’s location.

Jim Gilligan and Tim O’Malley (Concierge Preferred), Marilynn Gardner (Navy Pier), Tim Smithe (Walter E. Smithe) and Grant Deporter (Harry Caray’s) enjoyed the event earlier this week.
