Through sports, Special Children’s Charities is the proud fundraising arm of Special Olympics in Chicago. In cooperation with the Chicago Park District, Chicago Public Schools and Special Olympics Illinois, Special Children’s Charities is committed to providing year-round sports training, recreational and social programs for the children and adults of Special Olympics Chicago.
The Special Olympics mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

In Chef’s Hands Fall Fundraiser

A fall fundraiser is being held on Tuesday, November 8, at Studio Paris—the indoor/outdoor rooftop lounge at Paris Club—which vodka, beer and appetizer lovers will be sure to enjoy. Proceeds will benefit In Chef’s Hands, a Chicago non-profit organization providing culinary experiences amongst Chicago’s top chefs and individuals with special needs.
The event is from 6 p.m. to 9, and guests will be able to mingle with chefs, taste appetizers from the Paris Club, and enjoy signature cocktails provided by Patron and Ultimat Vodka and beer from Goose Island.
Following its conception in December 2010, In Chef’s Hand’s first experience was in October, where chef Tony Priolo of Piccolo Sogno and 13-year old Giana West, who suffers from Spina Bifida, worked together to make ravioli. More connections like these are planned for the future.
Tickets for the November 8 event are going for $35 in advance ($45 at the door).
