The Chinese-American Museum of Chicago announces its first-ever multimedia theater experience by presenting a new exhibition called My Chinatown: Stories from Within.
Opening on April 21st, this exhibition will give a fascinating look at how Chinatown residents both cherish their community and keep its traditions alive.
My Chinatown is a multimedia journey that will feature real people and real places by revealing a side of Chinatown many do not see. Voices of the community are enhanced by their storytelling, customs, work and family life all from within Chinatown’s borders.
“It will be even more authentic and fascinating to see these heartwarming histories shared in the heart of Chinatown,” said Suzanne Connor, Senior Program Officer for Arts & Culture at The Chicago Community Trust.
This exhibition also marks as the two-year anniversary of The Chinese-American Museum of Chicago’s re-opening in 2010 after recovering from a devastating fire in September of 2008.
Having ended its run at the Chicago History Museum, the Chinese-American Museum is excited to welcome home My Chinatown to the community. The exhibition was made possible thanks to a generous grant from the Chicago Community Trust.
Exhibition opening hours: Tuesday & Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission: $2 donation per person; $1 donation for students and seniors; free for museum members.
