On August 26, all eyes will be on former Bachelorette star Ed Swiderski—and it has nothing to do with his dating life or the latest cover of US Weekly. Contrary to what the media covers, Swiderski does actually have a life outside the fantasy suite, and you’re invited to see for yourself.
A native Chicagoan and technologist, Swiderski helps individuals and businesses grasp the benefits of open technology, helping them to understand the impact it can have on education and other entities globally. To aid his mission, Swiderski launched the non-profit Global Education Open Technology Foundation, which promotes open standards and technologies in education globally. “This methodology of open software, which enables the sharing of information, can ultimately break down the inequity of resources and skills that are causing the digital divide,” says Swiderski. “By launching this foundation our goal is to assist in breaking down those barriers.”
It’s a lot of info to digest, so come see for yourself. A launch event and fundraiser will be held on Thursday, August 26 at Bull & Bear in River North. Tickets are $15 in advance, or $25 at the door. The evening includes a two hour cocktail reception, appetizers, exclusive drink specials, gift bag and a special performance by American Idol Star Jeffrey David Goldford.
