Congratulations to Bonsoiree’s Shin Thompson and Luke Creagan for being invited to host a dinner at the James Beard Foundation in New York City on October 12th. This is Thompson’s second trip to the Beard House. Heralded as a “genius” in a recent 3-star raving review from the Chicago Tribune, Thompson hosted a similar site-specific culinary performance in NYC in 2009.
Showcasing seasonal cuisine that supports local artisans, Bonsoiree in Logan Square, has revolutionized the BYOB experience by inviting guests to sample award-winning area vintners. French-Japanese fusion plates are masterfully put together with extreme attention paid to color, shape, texture and functionality. Four-, seven-
and thirteen-course tasting menus are available.
Thompson, chef and owner, finds inspiration from his upbringing in Honolulu and Japan. He infuses traditional Japanese methods with classic French techniques to create complex flavors that arouse the senses. Originally opened in 2006 as a small gourmet café and delicatessen, a year later, Thompson modified the concept to what Bonsoiree is today.
Chef de Cuisine Creagan grew out of a little different mold. Raised in Muskego, Wisconsin, his culinary career started at Culver’s, followed by Arlington Park’s Breeder’s Cup, the W Hotel, and Soldier Field before joining the team at Bonsoiree.
Don’t miss “No Menu Sundays” when Thompson designs innovative courses based on the freshest seasonal produce from Chicago’s own Green City and Logan Square Farmers Markets, as well as choice fish and premium meats from throughout the world. Four courses: $45/person; seven courses:
$75/person.
Also be sure to sign up for Bonsoiree’s exclusive Underground Dining events. Derived from private dinner parties hosted by Bonsoiree’s founding chefs, the purpose of these dinners was to expose people to what has become known as the Bonsoiree culinary style. These invitation-only Saturday evening dinner events involve a six-course tasting menu exclusive to that month and chef service for every guest.
Reservations are highly recommended, the intimate quarters accommodate only 26 guests at a time, Tuesday through Saturday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information or to make reservations, call 773-486-7511 or check out their website.
Congratulations again to Shin Thompson and Luke Creagan!
